GPS Info 1.3.5 approved – What happened?

Good News, 1.3.5 has made it to the store and everyone can update.

Why did 1.3.4 fail? No Idea. I did not change any code between the two builds, just version numbers. 1.3.4 was made with the remote compiler and 1.3.5 on my laptop with my N8. Don’t know what was the problem.

Next up? 1.4 Will most likely be the final version. Changes will be:

  • Change the internal code to multiple files as it is easier to understand for others.
  • Update code to make it run better (Less CPU and Power use)
  • Move the Back/Exit button in line with Belle
  • Create MeeGo Qt Port
  • Add additional information while searching for Signal screen is displayed.

  1. I was waiting a new application for GPS Info QT, and today I installed the version 1.3.5….but it has the same problem like a 1.2.5, because when I receive the coordinates, the latitud is ok, BUT LONGITUDE IS BAD: example: the coordinates in BOGOTA, Colombia in my place are:4° 43′ 26″,75 N and 74° 2′ 1.38″ W, but with your aplications or GPS Info QT version 1.3.5 the coordinates on the same place are:4° 43′ 26″N and 75° 57′ 58″, therefore GPS Info QT shows one gap of 01° 55′ 57″ or difference.
Sorry, I like your applications but it has a big gap or difference in longitude.

    Sincerely, Ignacio

    • Hi ignacio,

      MJ

  3. Hello administrator, I have done full tests of GPS InfoQT v 1.3.5.

Were perfect and satisfying, so it is not true as discussed having large errors in the measurement of length, that is due to problems the chip itself to each user.

In my case I have left it for 10 minutes for each measurement in static, comparing GPS Info Maps QT …… …… GPSCalculator (store OVI)

    These are the results:

    GPS Info ……. QT 41 º 56 ’46 “N 02 º 47′ 44″ E
    NokiaMaps ………. 41 º 56 ’46 “N 02 º 47′ 44″ E
    GPS Calculator … 41 º 56 ’46 “N 02 º 47′ 44″ E

Accuracy has always been horizontally between 8 and 15 meters vertically between 10 and 20 meters.

Informed him of this study on my part, to their relief that the program works correctly and so thank you for your efforts in developing this great program.

I’m used for many years for aviation GPS and I can assure you that my tests are accurate.

    regards
    Ancamo

    • Hi Ancamo,
There is actually a problem in the program. It works when in North and East, however in South and West, there are negative numbers. These are not converted correctly.
New version has this fixed, new version will be sent to OVI store in the next few days.
      Thanks,
      MJ

  4. Hello MJ,

I got to try out your GPS Info App 1.3.5 last night for the first time on my N8. I was happy to see that it had so many features I was looking for. I love your app. I would like to suggest a few additions, for you to please consider on your 1.4 version. It would be very helpful to add an Output configuration options. Meters or Feet for elevation. m/s, MPH, or KPH for velocity. For the coordinates, to be able to switch to other popular outputs like, Degrees, and decimal minutes. Regardless, your app is the first one I have found that actually shows me what my GPS receiver is doing. I love that. Thank you for all the hard work!
