Flip Clocks and Tube Status on a Nokia E7

The E7 has a brilliant 4″ display using the Clear Back Display technology and the nice swivel to hold up the screen at a great viewing angle. I was lucky to have one on trial from the lovely folks over at WOMWorld Nokia. If you would like to trial a Nokia device, try and speak to them. Check out http://www.womworld.com/nokia/. I am sure they can help, they are are a great bunch.

Some shots of my E7 Trials. Also that keyboard is such a delight to type on!

Version 0.2

A few cosmetic changes done, this version will be updated soon as well. I am currently have a problem with loading XML models again and unable to display a refresh message.

For some reason, XmlListModel.reload, does not trigger the onStatusChanged call. Due to this I get a message that states ‘refershing’ however it should say, loaded when onStatusChanged is triggered after the XmlListModel as the Model should go to XmlListModel.Ready from XmlListModel.Loading due to my call for the .reload call.

Big steps, up to Vesion 0.1

I am getting more and more confident with this now, finally updated to the latest SDK and compiled again. Made changes to the backend tables for the lines and stations. Missing stations have been fixed as well and I hope that is all of them.

Version 0.1 looks good, next step is to save the latest updates to SQL table instead of memory based Models only. Another request is to make the Departure Board information display a last updated time, so that you know what’s next.

nearly done! v0.05

Good news this week, new Qt SDK 1.1  is out and with it comes the submission to Ovi Store for the Qt QML Apps. Other good news is that I am up to version 0.05. I think this is pretty much done, I have to do a sanity check on the backend data and cover any missing data.

Version 0.03

Just updated to version 0.03 as per the last post I have now added a Flickable element on the details page. This allows you to flick up and down to read the extra text, however the side effect is that you have to tap on the text to go back to the list view of all lines.

The main list now also shows the summar line status along with the icon and line name, this makes it easier to know what is going on.

I have now found new problems with the E6 and this app. E6 has a higher resolution and to avoid the text getting too small I have used point font size instead of pixel font size. This however could throw the layout off a bit, will wait and test soon.

Next step is to change the bottom bar to icons and add the tube this weekend notices. All data is currently being updated and stored on the phone and should allow you to use the last know update without refreshing, I just need to make a few more changes. After adding icons and tube this weekend, I will add live departure boards.

Version 0.02

Just a few changes quickly, the new version allows for tapping on the entire row that contains tube line colour, tube line name and the icon. Also has a nice fade effect on the details page (if you can notice it).

The next step is to add the summary of the line status under the line name on the first screen. This will make it easier to see more details without having to tap the line. You can still tap the line to get all the detailed information. I also noted that in some cases there is too many details provided and all the text does not fit the screen. I will be adding a flickable text box to hold all the details.

Tubestatus App

As per the last posts I am still not sure what to do with the map. I have now made the first Tubestatus app without the map.

Very Straight forward, loads with no updates. Tap the Refresh button and it will find the latest information and update it.  Tap the line Icon and it will give you more details about the issues and any messages from TFL. Screen shots below.
